After a great deal of self-evaluation, I have decided to pursue a career in environmental sciences in order to blend my desire for protecting nature and my scientific knowledge to reduce the impact of urbanization and man-made development on the environment, climate, and other elements of this planet. I have always enjoyed spending my leisure time planting trees and participating in cleaning drives and in any activity that makes a positive difference to our surroundings. By studying a master’s degree in environmental science I want to use and implement the latest technological inventions to improve several aspects that influence the connection between humans and nature. At your prestigious university, I look forward to receiving guidance from renowned environmental enthusiasts and thus boost my chances to succeed in this profession

After completing a Bachelor of Technology in Environmental Engineering in 2016 from IIT, Mumbai, I became convinced and happy about my career choices. While studying the B.Tech program in Environmental Engineering I specifically enjoyed Chemistry of Aquatics, Sludge Treatment & Disposal, Chemistry of water and wastewater, Geoinformatics, Solid Waste Management, and Fluid Mechanics. Studying these subjects made me realize about my innate interests and strengths with respect to various sub-branches of environmental science. The program helped me grasp the fundamental principles of Environmental science from an engineering perspective. I was introduced to concepts and theories that have stood the test of time and also evolved to meet the ever-increasing demands of urbanization and modernization.

In my final year, I worked on a project titled ‘Electrochemical Coagulation(ECC) Technology For Treatment Of Hospital Wastewater’. While working on this project, I learned about ECC technology and how it can efficiently treat wastewater from hospitals. The objective of the project was to (Please fill the details of the project ou worked on…………………) The project was a huge success and I was appreciated by my professors and project guide for achieving ambitious results in the shortest possible time. I also participated in a poster presentation competition and presented on ‘Sustainable cleaning of garbage grounds’.

After completing Engineering, I was interviewed by 3 companies and eventually got an offer from ‘Aquatech Systems Asia Pvt Ltd’. I worked in the Wastewater management department as a trainee and was then absorbed as a junior environmental engineer in the same

department. I was assigned on projects dealing with the difficulties in treating wastewater from pharmaceutical companies and I am glad to mention that this stint helped me grow and progress professionally in a corporate environment. I was exposed to challenges daily. A thorough assessment of my analytical and critical thinking skills was made by my seniors. The feedback certainly improved my conduct and performance.

In 2019, with 2.5 years of experience in wastewater management, I was assigned to a project that deals with ‘compliance of environmental regulations’. On this project, my responsibility was to co-ordinate and convey the advice and information on various environmental policies, rules, and regulations to clients who own or are in the process of establishing industrial plants and factories. I learned a great deal about these rules set out for different manufacturing and production units and I was expected to study them thoroughly. I was also responsible to make technical suggestions on how to abide and follow the environmental laws without jeopardizing the company’s profitability and optimum production flow. I developed astute communication skills with regular client interactions and brainstorming

Apart from academics, I played basketball in university tournaments. I was also part of many seminars and technical events organized at IIT, Mumbai.

Aspirations:

I wish to dedicate my life to the protect and safeguard the environment and encourage urban or industrial development that does not hamper even the slightest environmental factors. For this purpose, I want to pursue advanced studies in environmental science. After completing the master’s program, I want to utilize my full potential to mitigate the harmful effects of heavy industrialization and dense urbanization on the environment. I see myself working in a powerful role that will allow me to make strategic decisions to curb the negative impact of human activities on nature.
