The importance of the development and evolution of the human mind has been long cited by philosophers, psychologists, medicine scholars, and sociologists. I am amazed by the unique functioning of our brains and how our thoughts shape our lives and impact the decisions we make. A Bachelor’s in Psychology fueled my interest in pursuing further studies in this field to gain a deeper understanding of the latest developments in assessing, diagnosing, and treating different psychological disorders and conditions. At this juncture of my career, I believe that a master’s degree in clinical psychology will equip me with the knowledge and skills required to create a niche in the area of clinical psychology. This degree will place me much closer to my career objectives to conduct research in this field.

After completing high school with mathematics, biology, and chemistry, I understood that my passion was to understand the behavior of people in varied situations under diverse circumstances. Observing people and their reactions to external incidences made me curious to study psychology. Hence, in 2014, I enrolled in a Bachelor’s of Psychology course. In the first few months of my undergraduate studies, I realized that I had made the right choice as I found the curriculum of the course extremely interesting and engrossing. I was thrilled to work on as many surveys, projects, and events related to my academic subjects. In the 3rd year, I completed a project titled, ‘The trajectory of the Co-occurrence of Anxiety and Depressive Symptoms in treatments for Generalized Anxiety Disorder’. Working on this project helped me gain a completely different perspective on GAD. I enjoyed researching and gathering statistical information on GAD and depression. I also conducted a survey to study the symptoms of depression in GAD patients. The outcome received appreciation from my seniors and it also helped me learn a broad range of skills imperative to this profession.
