COST OF EDUCATION IN FINLAND

  • Tuition fees apply only to international students in Finland. Students who are citizens of Finland and other regions of the EU, EEA, and Switzerland can study for free in Finnish universities. However, international students outside the regions of the EU, EEA, and Switzerland have to pay tuition fees.

  • Full-time bachelor's and master's degree courses have tuition fees depending on the chosen university and location. But, doctorate courses are usually free of tuition costs. However, there are many conditions on which a student can study for free in Finland.

  • If you are a student who is a permanent or fixed-time resident permit holder or an EU Blue Card holder then you can study free in Finland. Also, if you are passionate to study in Finnish or Swedish in a course/degree which is offered in English then you will be exempted from paying tuition charges.

 

  • Tuition fees in Finland:-

Financially, Finland is a great option for EU/EEA and Switzerland students as universities and polytechnics do not charge tuition fees. Doctorate degrees are free irrespective of the nationality of the student. International students usually opt for English-taught courses.

  • In most cases, you need to pay the tuition fees for the annual year within 1 to 2 weeks or within a month. In most cases, the amount of tuition fee will be stated in the acceptance letter provided by the university. If you have applied and accepted for a scholarship then the amount is automatically deducted in the provided letter.

 

  • The living costs are not cheap in Finland. However, you can still get a decent student budget to live comfortably in the cities of Finland. The suggested budget for students is in the range of 700EUR - 900 EUR varies with the area and your standard of living. Sharing in an apartment is mostly preferred by international students that can cost between 400 – 600 EUR/month depending on how close your location is to the city center. For food, groceries from local supermarkets can cost 200 – 250 EUR/ month. Student passes for public transport which is most convenient for students can cost 35 - 50 EUR/month.
