Living in bigger cities like Berlin, Dusseldorf, Munich, Frankfurt, Cologne is more expensive than in small towns. Few German universities offer programs and tools to make international student life easier by arranging buddy systems, cultural classes, language training workshops, and networking excursions. All types of cuisines are available in most of the canteens, pubs, and restaurants.

To travel within the country, the semester-ticket is the best option that will help students to save money on commuting and traveling for academic and leisure purposes. When is Germany, be a German! On this note, it is highly recommended to know the German language, although you need not have a native language efficiency. English is the medium of instruction for courses offered by many universities and schools but knowing the German language, at least on a conversational level, certainly adds to your student experience and way of living. The German way of tutoring and teaching is similar to the psych of German people, strict and rigorous. They expect obedience, punctuality and genuine efforts on the part of the students.
