Recently, following intense debate on losing diversified talent by universities, the UK re-introduced the 2-year post-education stay-back policy, for all international students. In 2012, this practice was scraped by the then Home Secretary- Theresa May. The move ensures that the international student community benefits by allowing them to stay and work in the UK for 2 years after completing a recognized institute’s graduate course.

According to the previous regulations, international students were expected to leave the country within four months of graduation.

With the new regulation, eligible students may not only stay and work in the United Kingdom for 2 years, but may also transfer their ' student visa ' to a 'skilled workers visa’ if they are able to find a job that meets the skills criteria at the end of 2 years.
