What's the difference between an data analyst and a statistician?

One very important difference between an data analyst and a statistician is the location of their work. An analyst often works in a business or company setting while a statistician works with data and statistics. The job title also indicates who they are working for. If someone is working with business data, they are called an analyst while statisticians typically work in research settings such as universities, college, corporations, or government agencies. Statisticians are the people who look at data and study its patterns and trends to discover information that can be used for decision making purposes. They often work in fields such as social science, mathematics, or health care.

Analysts on the other hand typically have a background in accounting or finance and use statistics to collect and summarize the fundamentals necessary to make business decisions.
