SCHOLARSHIPS TO STUDY IN FINLAND

  • International students who are from non-EU/EEA regions are required to pay tuition fees in Finland. Finnish universities and higher education institutions offer many scholarships to international students. 

  • The scholarship system is different for each university/UAS. The grant amount or the tuition fees covered in the scholarship depends upon the institution providing the scholarship and the degree program.
  • The following are the institutes/universities in Finland providing scholarship so that you can check the options, requirements, and other grants covered in the scholarship: -

 

-        University of Helsinki Scholarships for international students

The scholarship program is intended for master’s degree programs for excellent international students outside the EU/EEA region. The duration of the scholarship is two years and after the 1st year, the scholarship grant will be continued according to your study progress. The scholarship covers the tuition fee that is in the range of 13000EUR to 18000EUR along with a study grant of 10000EUR.

 

-        University of Tampere Scholarships for international students

The scholarship is offered to master’s degree programs offered in English for international students. The scholarship is offered in two categories – one that covers either full or half of the tuition fees and the second is a global student award that covers full tuition fees including a grant of 7000 EUR for student’s living expenses.

 

-        Finland Government Scholarships for international students

The scholarship program is available to young researchers around the world and is an application only funding. The duration of the research/study program can be three months to a maximum of 9 months. The scholarship covers a monthly allowance of 1500EUR, but other expenses of traveling in and out of Finland should be covered by the scholarship recipients.

 

-        Aalto University Scholarships

The scholarships are awarded to non-EU/EEA international students in many English-taught master’s programs based on the merits of the applicants. The duration of the scholarships is usually two academic years and covers tuition costs of 16000EUR (8000EUR/year) or half of the tuition that is 8000EUR for the whole degree.

 

-        CIMO Doctoral Fellowship for international students

The scholarship is awarded to doctorate students for students from all countries especially from Russia, China, India, Chile, Brazil, and North America. The scholarship amount is 1500 EUR along with some living expenses for living in Finland (single person).

 

-        Protein Science Master’s Scholarship at the University of Oulu

The scholarship is awarded to talented international students who want to pursue international master's in protein science and biotechnology at the University of Oulu. The scholarship is awarded to 15 eligible students for both the protein and biotechnology program and protein science international program respectively. The scholarship is such that the university does not charge any tuition fees for the program and provide 4000EUR to cover living expenses.

 

-        Maid Sailors Big dreams Scholarship   

The scholarship is awarded by the Maid Sailors Company to eligible candidates for pursuing their studies in high school, colleges, and universities. The scholarship covers a grant of $1500 and another amount of $3000 is awarded to the best candidate. This applies to all students pursuing bachelor’s, master's, and Ph.D. degrees.

 

      United Nations University – WIDER Ph.D. Internships for international students  

The internship allows international doctorate students to experience the facilities and resources at UNU-WIDER for their thesis research. The scholarship covers traveling expenses (from your Ph.D. granting institution and back), medical insurance, and a monthly stipend of 1600EUR during the internship duration. The duration is usually three consecutive months spent at UNU-WIDER.

 

-        University of Oulu Masters Scholarships 

The scholarship is awarded to an international student studying for a master’s degree program. Students must have completed 55 ECTS by the end of the previous academic year. The scholarship is awarded to 10 to a maximum of 40 eligible applicants. The duration of the scholarship grant is one year and covers full tuition costs only.
