1. Do TOEFL tests online free?

Answer. The TOEFL free practice test is available at the ETS official website (https://www.ets.org/toefl) which contains the full test with all the 4 sections and the previous test questions. Otherwise, the TOEFL test fee can cost between 160$ to 250$.

2. Does the TOEFL certificate expire?

Answer. ETS has guidelines that include expiration of TOEFL scores after two years. Most of the universities accept and allow scores that are less than 2 years old. You can access your scores from your ETS account or official TOEFL app.

 

3. Does TOEFL give scholarships?

Answer. The British Council IELTS awards, which also sponsor IELTS, are granted  to the students with high IELTS scores and a good academic background. Another foundation that grants scholarship considering your IELTS score is the Fulbright Award whereas Temple and Oxford are the universities where you can get a scholarship with the help of your IELTS score.

 

4. Does TOEFL have levels?

Answer. Other than TOEFL iBT and TOEFL PBT, there is another TOEFL test called  the TOEFL ITP (Institutional Testing Program) which is a paper-based test and has content and format similar to TOEFL PBT. TOEFL ITP consists of two levels – 

Level 1 – intermediate to advanced

Level 2 – high beginning to intermediate

 

 

5. Does TOEFL have negative marking?

Answer. No, there is no negative marking in TOEFL, so students must attempt all the  questions. In order to attempt all the questions, time management throughout the test is important to practice.

6. Does the TOEFL have a penalty?

Answer. The points you gain during the TOEFL test are simple – for 1 correct answer you earn 1 point and for a wrong answer you earn zero points. There is no penalty or  negative marking for wrong answers so you can always make a guess if you don’t know the answer. 

 

 

 

7. Does the TOEFL have speaking tests?

Answer. Yes. In the TOEFL speaking section, there are 4 tasks containing recordings of lectures, conversations, etc. and then you have to record your answers through a microphone in the form of opinions, viewpoints, and summarization. The TOEFL speaking test is to gauge your reading skills, listening skills, use of grammar, focus, and time management.

Also, there are a lot of online tutorials and videos (free and paid) along with android apps to prepare individually.

 

 

 

 

10. Does the TOEFL require a passport?

 

Answer. Your TOEFL ID documents must be original documents and not photocopies, government-issued ID cards must include your full name matching with registration, and recently recognized photographs and your signature. For testing in India, a passport is mandatory with your name, photo, and signature. Also, if you are taking the test outside your home country then a passport is compulsory.
