1. Is it hard to get a job in Hungary?

Answer. Being part of the European Union and the Schengen area, Hungary has a wide international market which produces a lot of employment opportunities for foreigners. Industries like tourism, IT, and Engineering have great job opportunities in Hungary. 2. Are Hungarian people friendly to foreigners?

Answer. Hungarian people are polite, kind, and very helpful when it comes to welcoming foreigners. They are introverted and it is difficult to make them talk or open up but once they know you they will show you that they are the most hospitable people ever. Hungarian people are very proud of their heritage and may try to avoid you if you are from a country which they hate. If they trust you with your nationality then they would definitely talk to you in English, but they will highly appreciate it if you speak their language.

 

3. Can I work in Hungary without speaking Hungarian?

Answer. Yes. In big cities like Budapest, you can survive without knowing Hungarian because the city is multicultural and is home to many international companies. Even in smaller cities, knowing the language is not mandatory but you must know basic phrases to communicate if you are working in a cultural environment.

 

 

4. Is it easy to get a work permit in Hungary?

Answer. You will need proof of a ‘job offer’ from Hungarian employer to apply for a work permit. You cannot apply for a work permit for searching for a job. The application would be progressed by the Hungarian immigration office as a Resident permit for the purpose of employment. The process can be time-consuming but not complicated. The application proceedings take around 21 days and the decision of approval may take around 70 days from the date of submission.

 

 

5. How can I get PR in Hungary?

Answer. There are two types/ways through which a foreigner can gain permanent residency in Ireland.

1. National Permanent Settlement Permit (NPRP) can be applied if you have lived legally for at least 3 years in Hungary without staying out of the country for 90 days every year.

2. EC Permanent Residence permit (ECPR) can be issued if you have lived in Hungary for a continuous period of 5 years before the application was submitted. The validity of the permit is 5 years and maybe extended further by 5 years.

 

6. Is studying Ph.D. free in Hungary for international students?

Answer. Only the state-funded students are exempted from paying their Ph.D. fees who also receive a maintenance allowance from the Hungarian Government. Since it is difficult for international students to qualify for the limited state-funded seats, they are likely to pay their tuition costs for their Ph.D. along with the living costs, etc. However, there are a lot of scholarships and funding available for international students which cover your Ph.D. fees, a part of your accommodation cost, and a monthly stipend.

 

 

7. Is it easy to study masters in Hungary?

Answer. Hungarian Universities have a wide range of master’s degree programs under the education system which has grown significantly in recent years. Hungary is located at the center of Europe due to which it has an engrossing impact from the central and eastern sides. The universities are globally recognized with affordable tuition fees. You will find many post-graduate courses to study in English along with scholarship and funding programs that encourage students across the world to study in Hungary.

 

8. Can I work while studying in Hungary?

Answer. Yes, for working part-time you must have a residence permit if you’re a non-EU/EEA citizen. With the permit, you are allowed to work for 24 hours per week during your term period and 90 days or 66 working days during your non-term period like holidays, etc.

 

9. How many years do you need to complete your Ph.D. in Hungary?

Answer. The Hungarian Ph.D. process is divided into two phases. The first phase consists of 1-2 years of academics which builds a foundation for your subject research. The second phase consists of 2-3 years which will be your original doctoral project and may also end up adding a year to write your thesis. So, basically your full-time Ph.D. course lasts for around 3-6 years in a Hungarian University.

 

10. How are the internship opportunities in Hungary?

Answer. Universities, Students’ organizations, and other private institutions have a collaborative effort towards providing placements and internship programs for students. Some of the universities also hold career and job fairs where many top Hungarian companies participate. You will find tremendous opportunities for internships in Budapest in companies like Baker Mackenzie in fields like IT, Finance, Banking, Commercial real estate, etc. Other companies like Unilever, SAP, Vodafone, Morgan Stanley, LM Ericson, and L’Oreal offer internships for various positions.
