What a parent must know before their child opts to study abroad

Basic requirements you need to know as a parent:-

#1 Planning:-

After a serious but stress-free discussion with your child about studying abroad, immediately start planning each step involved in the whole studying abroad process. Gather enough information about finances, security, traveling, medical requirements, food, living location, climatic condition, paperwork, etc. With all this considered, keep patience and support the child’s capabilities to plan accordingly. It is a new and difficult process, hence, assistance or guidance from an expert is recommended.

 

Academic:-

1. You must be well aware of the exams like GRE and GMAT with their scorecards and the language testing exams like TOEFL, IELTS or PTE.

2. Get information about visa credit requirements.

#2 Documents:-

1. For traveling purposes and other legal formalities, your child needs to carry age proof, passport, health insurance, vaccination records, passport size photographs, income proof (if needed) and ID cards. Starting a process without any of these documents will be fruitless.

2. Applications such as SOP, LOR, I20, previous academic documents, work experience proof (if any), and resume or CV.

3. Finance related documents like visa fee receipts and bank account statements (if applied for education loan).

#3 Money exchange:-

To educate your child about the money exchange policy in a new country, you need to research about different places around the living location of your child. Some places where your child can exchange money are:-

1. Banks and ATMs

2. Currency exchange offices at airports.

3. Restaurants.
