Edinburgh Global Research Scholarship

 

International students who intend to study in the United Kingdom and pursue a research degree at the University of Edinburgh are eligible for the Edinburgh Global Research Scholarship. It is available to international students at the University of Edinburgh who are beginning their Ph.D. programmes.

 

The scholarship covers the difference between an international student's tuition fees and a domestic student's tuition fees. The scholarship amount is determined by the student's chosen course of study. It is given to students who have demonstrated that their research has the potential to yield positive outcomes. Every year, thirty scholarships are given out. The scholarship is good for three years of study at the University of Edinburgh and is renewable. The scholarship can be applied for online through the university's MyEd portal, or by sending an email to request a hardcopy application form.

Criteria for Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the Edinburgh Global Research Scholarship, applicants must be accepted to the University of Edinburgh.

 

In addition, applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

 

1.Must be a full-time Ph.D. student undertaking research on any university course of

   their choice.

 

2. You must be an international student who is responsible for paying your tuition.

    Must have a strong academic record.

 

3. Students with upper second class honors in their Bachelor's and Master's degrees 

   are also considered for this scholarship; however, due to competition, their chances 

   getting the scholarship is increased if they have better academic records.

 

4. Proof of nationality, residency, proposed topic of study, and personal details are all required.

 

5. At the time of application, you must not be receiving any other scholarship.

 

Application
 

A) The Edinburgh Global Research Scholarship application must be filed online through a portal called MyEd on the university's official website.

 

B) Applicants for a PhD in Economics with four years of integrated study will not be allowed to apply for this grant through MyEd.

 

C) They must email EconPGR.enguiries@ed.ac.uk to request a paper application, which must be returned by the same deadline.

 

D) Complete submissions must be received by February 17th, the application deadline.

 

Process of Selection

 

Following the university's receipt of the application, the selection procedure begins.

 

A. The university board appoints a special selection committee to evaluate students based on the specified criteria.

 

B. The scholarship recipients will be contacted by the end of April. The fellowship is renewable for

up to three years at the University of Edinburgh for research.

 

Rules and Regulations In terms of the scholarship:

 

1. Students who already have a Ph.D. or an equivalent of direct research training are not eligible.

 

2. The scholarship will not be valid in the first year of study if a student has applied to start his Master's in the first year and his Ph.D. in the second year, as in the case of Post  Doctoral students.

 

3. The Edinburgh Global Research Scholarship cannot be combined with other scholarships such as the Commonwealth Scholarship or the Marshall Scholarship.

 

Grant Specifications

 

The University of Edinburgh offers the Edinburgh Global Research Scholarship to all full-time Ph.D. students who intend to conduct research.

 

1. Only international students are eligible for the scholarship.

2. A total of 30 prizes are given out each year.

3. The grant is renewable for three years and is given for each semester.

4. The scholarship covers the gap between international and domestic students' tuition fees.

 

Note that if you apply for and receive another scholarship while still holding this one, the scholarship will become non-renewable immediately.
